New Chevy Camaro Raises the Bar for Safety

With the new 2012 Camaro, Chevrolet demonstrates that consumers searching for the best safety do not need to give up performance and style, and purchase a frumpy mini-van. Recently, the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) put the pony car under its recently-revamped (and might we add harder-to-pass) series of crash tests. Since tightening their criteria earlier this year, the NHTSA has denied all 46 cars assessed a perfect five-star rating, across the board... That is, until the new Camaro.

It's not the overall rating that we're impressed by. There are 14 other models that received that honor. What we find much more remarkable is that the Chevrolet Camaro received a perfect 5-star rating in each one of the NHTSA's 6 test categories! Despite which particular car brand you are a fan of, you've got to admit that is an outstanding standard to set. The high ratings can be attributed to Chevy's attention to every detail from body engineering to materials used; from the strategic integration of airbags to tire-pressure monitoring; from complementary OnStar services (i.e., Automatic Crash Response and Hands-Free Calling, among eight others) to the standardization of stability control and traction control.

The biggest advantage of all, however, is peace of mind. There are a lot of cars out there designed to allow speed fiends to 'drive like they mean it'. The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, however, is the only one that offers truly unfettered protection should things ever get out of control.
