Our History
At Peterson, we're proud to be a family-owned and operated dealership that has served Idaho families for over 100 years. It all started in 1923 with LG Peterson, a man with a wrench, a dream, and a drive to serve. Fresh out of the Army and passionate about mechanics, LG began his journey by building and servicing motorized ambulances during WWI.
After the war, LG opened dealerships for Durant, Star, and Buick. In 1933, he founded Peterson Motor Company with a Hudson distributorship. He later moved the business to Boise and continued growing the family legacy.
In 1950, LG's son Marvin joined the business, opening the dealership's first new location with Toyota in 1964. In 1984, Marvin's son Mark took the reins, helping Peterson expand further with a focus on customer service and community commitment.
Today, the fourth generation is helping lead the way -- Mark's sons Brady and Nils continue the tradition, making Peterson Auto Group Idaho's largest locally owned dealership chain.
At Peterson, we see our history as the foundation of strong relationships, built on trust, loyalty, and care. Our customers span generations, and our team is proud to serve families who've purchased multiple vehicles with us over the decades.
We've been recognized as the #1 Chevy dealer in Idaho in 2020 and the #1 dealer in the Treasure Valley in 2021. With 10 brands and locations in Boise, Meridian, and Nampa, Peterson Auto Group is committed to providing honest, high-quality service before, during, and long after the sale.
